Battle of the Beers: Non Alcoholic Edition

It seems that in the last year or so non alcoholic beer has been trending. More and more people want to enjoy the taste of beer without the calories or alcohol. I have tried 4 different N/A beers and I will share my rating and thoughts below. **Full disclosure, the beers from Nirvana were gifted, but the opinions I will share are my own.*

Untitled Art: Juicy IPA

  • 19 grams of carbs
  • 3 grams of sugar
  • 90 calories

My rating: 4/10

I am a fan of most beers from Untitled Art, but this one is a miss for me. I was hoping to really enjoy this beer because it is advertised as a Juicy IPA which is my favorite style. Sadly this didn’t taste all that juicy or really even IPA. This tasted to me like a flat iced tea with a little bit of bitterness. However, my husband thought it wasn’t bad and didn’t get the tea taste I was describing. Guess this will have to be one you try for yourself to see what flavor you taste.

Nirvana Brewery: Hoppy Pale

  • 5 grams of carbs
  • 25 calories

My rating: 8/10

This was my favorite N/A out of the bunch. It actually had a hoppy taste and tasted more like beer than the others. This beer was refreshing tasting and surprised me with the low amount of both calories and carbs. It did taste a bit flat and I felt like I could still tell it was a N/A beer, but overall I’d drink this again. You can find Nirvana’s full line of N/A beers on Amazon.

Guinness: Non Alcoholic Draught

  • 13.5 grams of carbs
  • 60 calories

My rating: 7/10

This “Guinness” surprised me because the can has a widget, it poured just like a traditional Guinness, and it looked like a traditional Guinness in the glass. The one thing I didn’t care for though was that it is quite a bit sweeter than a traditional Guinness. My husband is an avid Guinness drinker, and he said he would definitely drink these if he wanted a N/A option.

Nirvana Brewery: Dark Roast

  • 16 grams of carbs
  • 9 grams of sugar
  • 70 calories

My rating: 4/10

This was my least favorite beer of the bunch. There really isn’t a description of what type of “beer” this is, but to me, this was the “beer” that tasted the least amount like an actual beer. This had a lot of flavors, but not flavors you would expect to have in a beer. This was another beer that tastes like herbal tea. I personally wouldn’t try this one again.

What are your thoughts on N/A beer? Have you tried any? If so, which one(s) have been your favorites? I feel like there are many N/A drink options out there, so I will probably stay away from purchasing any more N/A beer. However, if you’re pregnant or just want to take a break from alcohol, there are plenty of decent options out there for you to try.
